Although my friend Julius Terlinden told me about the artist/graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister years ago I was looking on his works just this week. Sagmeister published the inspiring book Things I have learned in my life so far - based on some of his diary notes where he wrote down 20 statements about what he has learned so far while he made a sabatical (more about this here).
This morning I did the same thing (see also as text below):
Nils Knoblich - Things I have learned in my life so far:
1) Be selfish - but know when.
2) Always finish what you once have started.
3) You don’t need any preparation - just start now.
4) Hesitating is always wrong.
5) Better don’t do it than just half-ass.
6) Having a mission makes you happy. (Give yourself a mission - every day.)
7) Force yourself to make mistakes.
8) What has hurt you also hurts others.
9) Doubting is a waste of time.
10) Share everything - it helps you.
11) Try that meditation thing.
12) There is something in everyone that is worth to be loved.
13) I have never been bored in my life. (Why?)
14) When bored, just observe and document something.
15) There is no waste of time in life (except hesitating, doubting and sitting without thinking if it’s not meditation).
16) No idea is exclusive.
17) Read, watch, listen things you are not interested in.
18) Broadening your horizon makes you wise.
19) It is possible to be on time.
20) Don’t judge new things.
Feel free to leave a comment or a question about these statements my dear readers.
Here are some illustrations and cover designs I did for the new issue #4 of TRIEBWERK the graphic anthology by the class of Illustration & Comic of Kunsthochschule Kassel. The topic is work / working. I favour the pink/blue combo.
The issue will be released in june at the Comic Salon Erlangen.

The lovely Gerlin of the up-and-coming Belgian blog Neon Enlightenment discovered a photo of me as the badge dealer at the recent rotopol vernissage and asked me to do an interview for them. So did I. You can read it here.
I just had my first week in UK and I am overwhelmed! I am in Portsmouth (South West, UK’s only island city) to do an Erasmus funded exchange semester at the Illustration course of the art, design and media department - and I love it.
Last weekend I went to London to hook up with my geezer mates from the band Coma. At their amazing gig at Questionmark Bar we got to know the great hosts Join The Dots and the incredible band Loose Fit. And just to stay in the name dropping groove, if you come to London and you want to eat food fit like a king go to St. JOHN BREAD and WINE.
Art, music, making friends, amazing food… what’s missing? Ah! Animation. Check out the animation I discovered in a guide to London:
