About Nils

nils knoblich knoblick frau mit muskeln wheelchair disco dance for development

Nils Knoblich is an illustrator, comic artist and animation director. He creates comic books (available at rotopolpress) and animation short films and works freelance for several clients. Currently he works on his animation short The Burning Haus (funded by Hessen Film Fund Germany), several illustration projects and he prepares the narrative Orang Utan Knock Out.

Since 2005 he studies Illustration/ Comic and Animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel (Germany) under Hendrik Dorgathen, Andreas Hykade and Thomas Meyer-Hermann.
This year he studies at the School of Art, Design and Media of the University of Portsmouth (UK).

Nils was born 1984 in a small city in the Ore Mountains / Erzgebirge (former East Germany). During his youth at the dreamy Lower Rhine region / Niederrhein, close to the Dutch border, he did many Super Mario Kart races against his sisters. Sometimes he won. Or he met with friends and created comic books.

Now he is almost grown-up and if he does not sit at his drawing desk, he dances costumed as an electro-hedonist across the streets of Europe or he djs and produces music as part of the DJ collective Frau Mit Muskeln.
